Short Biography

Md. Shamim Sarker (pen name: Shahriar Shamim) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bangla at Sonargaon University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He earned his B.A. (Honours) in Bangla and M.A. in Bangla Literature from the University of Rajshahi and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Jahangirnagar University. Before joining Sonargaon University, he served as a Lecturer at Milestone School and College (2019–2021). He joined Sonargaon University as a Lecturer in 2022 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2025. His academic interests include Bengali literature, modern Bengali poetry, fiction, literary criticism, and cultural studies. He has published research articles on Jibanananda Das, Swakrit Noman, and contemporary Bengali literature. In recognition of his literary contributions, he received the Best Writer Award (2017) from the Department of Bangla Alumni Association, University of Rajshahi, and an Honorary Crest at the 26th Book Fair in Bagatipara, Natore. He is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and the advancement of Bangla language and literature.
